Here is my weekly Feathers on Friday post for September 25, 2015. This week's Feathers on Friday bird is a Black-chinned Hummingbird, male. This photo was taken two months ago in the Manzano Mountains.
Hi guys. Today it isn't Luna typing but rather her human. In going over old posts, I noticed a mistake in the post called 'A Post By Loona', posted in July. A mistake other than the bad spelling. So, this is a bit of a puzzle for my readers, as it is not an obvious mistake, like a typo. But anyone who knows about cats should know...and maybe dog people will get it too...in the three sentences written in bold below is where the mistake is. Can anybody figure it out? One week from today is when the answer will come out. Post what you think Luna's mistake was in the comments below! (Luna's mistake is NOT bad spelling, although there is a lot of bad spelling).
Hay I just noticd somthing. Y do so many of my words hav red lins undr them? Wen u tipe on yur cumpoter do red lins sho up?
Spelled correctly: Hey, I just noticed something. Why do so many of my words have red lines under them? When you type on your computer do red lines show up?

Here is my weekly Feathers on Friday post for September 11, 2015. This week's Feathers on Friday bird is a Western Wood-Pewee seen at Tingley Beach a week ago.
Most people think of walking dogs. But you can walk almost any furry pet, and yes, that includes cats. Luna, also known as the cat version of Houdini, has figured out how to escape into the backyard by wriggling under the screen door. We wanted to give her some outdoor time without letting her wander around and possibly get lost. So we went to the local pet store and purchased a cat harness and a leash. The harness that we bought has an adjustable loop for the cat's neck, and an adjustable strap that buckles behind the cat's front legs. This type of harness is called an 8 harness, because of the way it looks. If you are going to walk your cat or cats, it is very important that you purchase a cat harness, and not a regular collar. A collar can break and the cat can run off. It also puts too much pressure on the cat's neck. For the leash, a 4-foot leash is recommended, unless you want your cat to be far ahead of you on a 6-foot or retractable leash.
You can't simply put the harness on your cat, snap the leash on, and take them outside. You have to be patient. Put the harness on your cat, making sure it is not too tight but not too loose, either. If you can, try and strap the harness under the cat's belly. If your cat will not let you do this, just let the harness go around the neck for now. Quickly distract your cat by giving them a treat, a favorite toy, or petting them. Repeat this step for at least 15 minutes everyday until your cat will let you put the harness on without too much of a fuss. Once your cat has the harness on and is used to it, snap the leash on and walk around the house with your cat. It is important that you go wherever your cat wants to go, unless, of course, they want to go somewhere they aren't supposed to go, like in an off-limits room or in a cabinet. Follow your cat around the house on the leash until your cat is used to that. Now, once your cat is fine with the harness and the leash, it is time to take them outside. Put your cat in front of the closed door. Slowly open it. Your cat may rush out right away, or back away. Give them time if they don't want to go out right away. Eventually they will step outside. Walk them around the backyard, and if they want, through to the front yard. Cats aren't like dogs in the sense that they won't go wherever you want them to go. It is probably best to keep your cat in the yards, but if you want, you could try walking them on the sidewalk. It is very important to keep them out of the street. If they go somewhere they are not supposed to go, like the street or your neighbor's front yard, don't tug them away like you would a dog. Lift your cat up and take them to where they are supposed to be. Of course, not all cats will adjust to a harness and leash, so don't make your cat do anything they don't want to do. We have tried the harness on Brownie and he does what he does whenever you put something on him: he backs up. Often he can't see where he is going so he bumps into walls, tables, chairs, desks, and other assorted things. He keeps backing up until you take whatever it is off of him.
Hay u gys it's Loona. I am vary pleesed 2 b posting the furst post of September! I hav sum vary ixciting news: Browny and I r working 2gether 2 make a book! Alltho it wil probly not get published, at leest not enytime soon, we r making it enyway and r on chapter 4 owt of 10. We had a bit of help from ower humen, so all, or at leest most, of ower speling shood b corect. Ower book is called A Guide of Life For Cats, By Cats. Prety good, huh? Here is a short exsirpt from chapter 2:
12 Things Cats Don’t Have To Do:
1. Go to work
2. Make hard decisions
3. Go to school
4. Clean the house
5. Drive a car, truck, boat, bus, train, plane, or space shuttle
6. Learn ‘proper’ manners
7. Pay ‘bills’ and ‘taxes’ (whatever those are)
8. Dress up for parties and fancy dinners
9. Take showers
10. Travel (except to the vet)
12. Start wars
And that is just one part of ower book. We'd like to here wat u thenk abowt it! Tell us in the coments. Here is a short exsirpt from chapter 3:
Now, sometimes humans are enticed by ‘sales’, whatever those are. These ‘sales’ put things like cat food at really cheap prices, as far as we can deduce. Well, fellow cats and kittens, you must not let your human buy any food on
‘sale’. Dogs may eat anything that fits the category ‘food’, and many things that do not fit the category ‘food’, but we
cats are very particular about what we eat.
O no, I see Browny coming over to-HEY NOW WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? HM...LET ME READ...OH YES, OF COURSE. OUR NEW BOOK. I HOPE YOU SAID HOW WELL I WRITE! Uh, Browny, I didn't really talk about-WHY YES, YOU DID SAY WE WORKED TOGETHER. PERFECTLY TRUE! FOR ONCE, ANYWAY. Hay, I am allways rite! I allways say everything ixactly the way it hapened. SURE, SURE. TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: 70% OF THE TIME, LUNA IS WRONG. Hay not true! And 'wrong' is acshally speled ron. SEE? SHE'S WRONG AGAIN. Hay! WELL IT'S TRUE. I don't care. Go away. Sory gys, I'll hav 2 cut this short, becuz Browny is now geting redy 2 pownce so I hav to go. Look for a post by Loona next week! AND BROWNIE DON'T FORGET BROWNIE! Whatever says Loona. Good by readers!
