We recently went to the New Mexico State Fair and saw lots of animals, although no cats or birds, unless you count chickens. Here is a slideshow of some of the animal pictures I took.
Brownie: Good morning, Luna. Oh, wait, is it afternoon already?
Luna: Yes. It's almost 1:30 HT, Human Time.
Brownie: Oh, well, I guess the time flies when I'm having fun and doing my morning routine. Want to hear about it?
Luna: Hear about what? Having fun or doing your morning routine?
Brownie: Doing my morning routine, of course! Talking about having fun would take too long, because there are about a trillion gazillion ways of having fun.
Luna: Right. Well, fine, I'll hear about your morning routine. Maybe it'll give me ideas for mine.
Brownie: Okay. Well, first I wake up...
Luna: And I wake up...
Brownie: And I stretch...
Luna: And I walk over to wherever you're waking up and stretch...
Brownie: And I ask for some pets...
Luna: And I climb on a box and make lots of noise...
Brownie: And then I jump down from wherever I was sleeping, trot out of the room with my tail held high, and scratch my scratcher or the sofa, whichever is more convenient.
Luna: Lovely routine. I should definitely add the scratching part to mine.

Here is my weekly Feathers on Friday post for September 26, 2014. This week's Feathers on Friday bird is a female Lesser Goldfinch sitting on a branch. It is one of the best photos I have ever taken.
Birds Don't Eat Cows Suet Co. is a small company based out of a remote mountain cabin in eastern Oregon. They make organic, vegetarian suet birds love. They currently have three flavors: Original Peanut Butter Suet, Raisin Suet, and Millet Suet. They created this company because of the introduction of GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms) into the ingredients used to make regular beef suet. Few studies have been done on the effects of GMOs on birds, but many have been done on rats and mice, who are certainly similar to birds. Now, because of GMOs, suet may be worse than better for birds. You can read more about why Birds Don't Eat Cows suet is better than regular suet on their homepage or on their about page. Unfortunately, they are currently unable to ship outside of the Continental U.S. due to unreasonable shipping prices.
Stevie has won the Cat of the Week photo contest on moderncat.com with 11,523 votes! Stevie is a 1-year-old domestic shorthair cat from Cleveland, Ohio who had both of his eyes removed due to an infection when he was a kitten. But that doesn't prevent Stevie from leading a normal life! He also goes by the name of Sir Fuzzyface, and likes belly rubs, his best cat friend Brooks, and 'his' dogs! He dislikes dirty litterboxes. His favorite foods include Friskies wet food and Nutro kibble, and his favorite pastime is looking for new places to nap. Congratulations on becoming Cat of the Week, Stevie!
Luna: Hey Brownie, where did that delicious-looking fly go?
Brownie: Don't ask me, I have absolutely no idea.
Luna: Oh come on. Honestly you have no idea?
Brownie: I have no clue.
Luna: Wait a moment! What are you snacking on? Our owners don't leave food out all the time.
Brownie: I know they don't leave food out. I'm snacking on...oh nothing.
Luna: Come on...wait, did you catch that delicious-looking fly and eat it?
Brownie: Yes, no, maybe so.
Luna: Just tell me!
Brownie: Oh fine. Yes.
Luna: Hey! Bad Brownie! Oh wait, never mind, there goes another fly, also delicious-looking.
Brownie: Have fun. Meanwhile, I'm going to go and flop down in the hallway with a nice full belly.
Luna: Oh come here fly...yes! I caught it!
